Sugarlight Photography is a privately owned Colorado-based photography company serving schools from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs.

We specialize in preschool, K–8, athletics, and family photography. Our decisions are made internally by leadership who work directly with schools, families, photographers, and staff every day.

Because we are privately owned, we do not monetize student data, sell access to images, or build business models around advertising, resale, or data licensing. Our focus is providing secure, organized, school-authorized photography services with long-term accountability.

In connection with school-authorized photography services, we may collect:

If a third-party platform offers optional photo-search tools (such as image grouping within a private gallery), those features are limited to helping families locate images within their own gallery and do not involve selling or licensing biometric data.

 FERPA & Student Data Privacy

Sugarlight Photography supports schools in complying with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

When student images or related information are maintained in connection with a student’s educational record, we act as a service provider to the school under the “School Official” exception.

Schools retain control over student education records. Student data is used only for purposes authorized by the school or school district.

Student images and related information may be retained for a limited period to support:

• Ordering windows

• Retakes and reprints

• School-authorized deliverables

• Legal or accounting requirements

Retention periods may vary based on school agreements and operational needs.
